Making your first swap
A step-by-step walkthrough of your first token swap on roodswap, from connecting your wallet to confirming the transaction.
Before you start
You need a crypto wallet. Any EVM wallet you already use works, and Solana wallets work for Solana trades. roodswap never holds your funds. You sign every transaction yourself, and tokens move straight from your wallet to the destination.
Connect your wallet first. If you are swapping across ecosystems, for example SOL to ETH, connect a wallet on both sides so there is an address to receive the output.
The steps
- 1Choose your pay token and chain
Pick the token you want to spend and the chain it lives on. This is the top field.
- 2Choose your receive token and chain
Pick the token you want to get and the chain you want it on. Same chain is a swap. A different chain is a bridge. roodswap handles both.
- 3Enter an amount
Type how much you want to pay, or how much you want to receive. The other field fills in automatically.
- 4Read the quote
Check the rate, the minimum you will receive, and the fees. All of it is shown before you sign. See the next section.
- 5Approve the token if needed
For an ERC-20 token you sign a one-time approval so the swap can move it. Native tokens like ETH and SOL skip this step.
- 6Confirm in your wallet
Sign the swap transaction in your wallet. Nothing leaves your wallet until you sign.
- 7Wait for confirmation
The transaction goes out with priority and lands fast. When it confirms, the received token is in your wallet.
Reading the quote
roodswap compares prices across dozens of DEXs and bridges through several leading routing engines at once, then picks the route with the most output after fees and gas. Quotes return in under a second.
The quote shows you everything up front:
- Rate — how much you receive per unit paid.
- Minimum received — the floor. Prices move, so this is the least you will get. If the route can't deliver it, the transaction fails instead of giving you less.
- Fees — a flat 0.1% service fee, already included in the displayed rate, plus network gas and the underlying DEX or bridge fee. Nothing is hidden.
The minimum received is a hard floor. If the route can't deliver at least that amount, the transaction fails instead of giving you less. You see it before you sign.
After you confirm
Crypto transactions are irreversible. Once you sign and the transaction lands, it is done. roodswap cannot hold, freeze, move, or recover funds because funds never touch roodswap.
Check the token, chain, and amount before you confirm. If something looks wrong, adjust it and get a fresh quote. If you get stuck, contact team@roodswap.com.
